ANNIVERSARY AND WEDDING PLATES

Wedding and anniversary plates have been traditional gifts created by potters in eastern Pennsylvania to "document" and celebrate these important family events. There are two kinds of plates we make -- high-fired stoneware and traditional redware (shown on a separate page).

Included are the names of bride and groom and wedding date. For anniversary plates, husband and wife are named with the number of years married and possibly the wedding date. Ordinarily the first names only are placed on a plate unless the last name is specifically requested.

Two basic designs offered are the traditional "Tree of Life" and "Abundance." Slight design variations may occur from one plate to another since each one is individually created. There are two texts to choose from -- pictured in the examples.

10" STONEWARE PLATE FOR ANNIVERSARY or WEDDING

Designs are hand-painted with Medium Blue and Deep Forest Green glazes highlighted with white and ochre leaving part of the plate unglazed. This allows the warm tones of the clay to become part of the design. The clay and glazes are all high-fired and food safe. Weight: 2 lb.

ORDERING YOUR STONEWARE PLATE

Online orders are welcome using the Plate Order Form provided where all the needed information may be recorded. After we receive your order you will be contacted by email or phone to confirm your order and arrange payment. Orders may also be placed by phone or email.  Summer and Fall months please allow 6 weeks from time of order to delivery.

Note: If the order is placed too late to finish the plate by the time it is needed, I will gladly send a gift certificate which can be presented at the celebration or wedding announcing that a special gift is forth-coming.
